Caterpillars

So how weird is this? We are driving down the street and we notice all the these weird yellow things moving in the road. Like tons of them. You guessed it...caterpillars. Huge ones. I've never seen anything like it. Do caterpillars migrate? Like across the street from where they were? Must be an Arizona thing.
